SBAC scoring for minimum wage

Last night I received a January, 2015 CCSS Update from the fine state of California. Front and center in this update is an announcement of an Opportunity to Participate; they are seeking teachers who are interested in scoring the constructed responses and performance tasks on the SBAC in Spring of 2015. It even came with a link to an exciting flyer.

If you look closely, however, you will see something crazy. It's an offer your can't can't refuse: $13 an hour to grade papers.
To put this into perspective: San Francisco recently passed a law that will raise minimum wage to $15 by 2015. That's right...teachers are being asked to work for less than minimum wage to score SBAC.

Is this really the way to go? Not for me. Maybe I'll try babysitting instead.

Is it too early to think this is cool?

So, a buddy and I noticed that Pi Day this year will be especially cool? Why?
Is it too early to be thinking about this?

Of course, I'm also kind of sad that it will be on a Saturday. Can you imagine the cheering and the pure joy that would have happened at the stroke of 9:26:53? It's not likely that they will pause the soccer games for a moment of sheer mathematical joy and wonder.
